Viola Davis is the First Black Woman to Win Best Actress in a Drama, Delivers Kick-Ass Acceptance Speech

Viola Davis won the best actress in a drama award at the 2015 Emmys for her role in How to Get Away With Murder. This is the first time that a Black woman has won this award, and in a wonderful acceptance speech, Davis reminded everyone why exactly she is the only Black woman to have received this award – opportunity.  As she said, “You cannot win an Emmy for roles that are simply not there.”

Watch the above clip and check out Davis as she accepts her award. Trust me. You won’t regret it.
